Nothing adds the detail like moving pictures. Ever wondered why that is?

Science suggests that this can be traced back to our survival instinct.  When we had to hunt to survive, our prey’s initial defence was to freeze, but if our prey moved, our highly developed sight spotted the movement and helped secure our next meal.  The point is that our eyes and brain work together to ensure that we see movement above all else.  Fundamentally, movement appeals to our instinct to survive.

In addition, research shows that we remember things more easily if we watch moving pictures rather than static ones. Plus, there are studies that demonstrate we are better able to understand things when we watch moving pictures.

It is therefore no surprise that we have fallen in love with online video and online video meetings and that in many communications scenarios, video is no longer optional but is fundamental to a successful outcome

The role of Airsys.Cloud in building the bigger (moving) picture

Airsys.Cloud provides “Instant Group Communication, Everywhere” at the touch of a button, using Voice, Video and Data. This is known as GCaaS.

Airsys.Cloud GCaaS platform supports Broadband Push-to-Talk (BBPTT) and a Push-to-Video (PTV) Bolt-On that allows on-to-one and one-to-many PTV calls (half duplex).  The Bolt-On also supports one-to-one Video Calls (full duplex).  Airsys.Cloud’s PTV Bolt-On therefore provides businesses using Airsys.Cloud with the opportunity to add moving pictures to their instant communications mix and enjoy the improved communications that video provides.

Airsys.Cloud’s PTV Bolt-On also provides Video Calls that can be triggered in an emergency.  The device triggering the emergency (either directly via an SOS key or indirectly via Airsys.Cloud’s Lone Worker Protection (LWP) Bolt-On) establishes and connects to a dynamic channel on a full duplex basis which other users can join in order to assist on a half duplex basis.  In effect this means that the device triggering the emergency will have a hot mic and hot camera (for a predefined period) such that the individual in trouble can interact with their device ‘hands free’ (they may have dropped the device in a fall) and that other users interacting with their fallen colleague can do so by joining the dynamic emergency channel and using their PTT key.

For Airsys.Cloud users whose service includes recording of all media, PTV, Video Calls and Emergency video calls are all recorded for future review of the incident.

It goes without saying that adding video to the instant communications mix will have an impact on all three fundamental elements of BBPTT (see BBPTT Fundamentals BLOG) – Namely – Devices, Connectivity and the Service itself.

The Service aspect is provided by Airsys.Cloud’s PTV Bolt-On.

Connectivity (Data) requirements will expand around 10-fold depending on chosen pixel density, frame rate and data rate (all of which have an impact on video quality).  This will primarily affect choice of Mobile Data Plan.

Devices in play will need the necessary cameras.

Conclusion

PTV is a bolt-on application for Airsys.cloud BBPTT solution.

Providing both one-to-one and one-to-many half-duplex PTV and one-to-one full-duplex Video Calling, live video with audio can be sent from any device at any location, with the push of a button.

In emergency situations, full-duplex video with audio can help prevent a potentially dangerous situation from escalating, minimising danger to those involved.

In day to day operations, a video capability can save valuable time and provide access to specialists who are able to see what you’re seeing and advise how to proceed, potentially saving expensive specialist call outs.

With Airsys.Cloud’s Record option enabled, PTV and Video Calls are recorded for later review and/or archive purposes.

Bring your teams closer together than ever before, with Airsys.Cloud’s PTV Bolt-On application.
